There are some really good news. Karl Heinz Kremer is the new epson backend maintainer. He will try to bring all the different backends and patches together and back into SANE. This means that 0.1.6 is probably the last backend provided on this site.

I own an Epson GT-6000 scanner with parallel interface. Like some other people I was very unhappy that I had to reboot, you know this ... OS, for every scan. Searching the WWW I found two pieces of software:

ppic-0.5

which supports epson scanners with parallel and scsi interface. Unfortunately it's not compiling any more (looks like a lot has changed in the Linux kernel in between).

and

SANE

which had already an epson backend but only supporting scsi scanners. So I decided to merge the SANE Epson backend with the ppic code.

The modifications are included in SANE since version 0.72. I'm happy about any help I can get, including turning this page into english. Also the "is working" table need more entries. Don't hesitate to mail at any time of the day.
